How To Adjust Plastic Windows Yourself
Most owners of apartments and private houses have appreciated the advantages of plastic windows: tightness, excellent heat and sound insulation, a variety of design solutions.
If windows are installed by a competent specialist, he will adjust the system in such a way that a comfortable microclimate is maintained in the house. However, during operation, self-adjustment of the window may be required.
Seasonal window adjustment
Depending on the season, the density of pressing the sash to the frame can be adjusted using fittings.
● Summer mode provides the minimum pressure density, as a result, a micro-gap is formed between the sash and the frame. In summer, this helps to ensure better air circulation in the room, and also extends the life of the window system.
● Winter mode provides for the most dense clamping of the sash, as a result, drafts are absolutely excluded.
● The universal mode will protect against drafts, providing a slightly less dense junction of the sash to the frame than in the winter version – as a rule, it is used in the first years after the installation of a plastic window block.
To switch the window to summer or winter mode, use a special adjusting screw:
● if it is in the neutral position, the universal mode is set on the window;
● when the trunnion is in the direction of the street, the sash is pressed the least tightly – summer mode;
● if the trunnion faces the inside of the room, the winter position is set.
Adjustment can also be carried out using an oval bolt, which is set vertically in winter, horizontally in summer, and diagonally rotated to neutralize.
It is not recommended to operate windows in winter mode all year round – this leads to rapid wear of seals and a reduction in window service life. As a rule, it is chosen when the temperature is below freezing outside, snow has fallen and is switched to a weaker pressure mode – summer or universal, when the weather is consistently warm in spring.
If it’s blowing from the window
If you have transferred the fittings to the winter position, but you still feel a draft from the window, you will have to look for the reason. There may be several of them:
● mounting errors;
● the seal is out of order;
● sash sagged.
To exclude poor-quality installation, contact trusted plastic window installation companies that provide warranties for products and work performed.
A worn seal must be replaced around the entire perimeter of the sash. It is better if this work is done by the master.
If the sash sags, you can try to solve the problem yourself.
● To align the sash horizontally, adjust the lower canopy by turning it clockwise to bring the sash closer to the hinge by 1-2 mm and counter-clockwise to move it away. Then adjust the position of the sash relative to the upper hinge – such manipulation will allow you to change the position of the sash within 4 mm.
● The vertical position of the sash needs to be adjusted more frequently. To do this, use the regulating node located in the lower loop. Turning clockwise will help raise the sash, lower it in the opposite direction. Thus, the vertical position of the opening part is corrected within 2-2.5 mm.
Other issues
Sometimes, over time, the window begins to close tightly. Most often, the problem occurs due to improper maintenance. The mechanism of the handle and hinge must be periodically lubricated with machine oil or a special compound for PVC windows. Before lubrication, the fittings are wiped with a clean cloth, removing visible dirt and dust. If the lubrication did not help, proceed to adjust the frame.
If you notice that the handle has become loose, the fasteners on it can be tightened with a screwdriver, having previously removed the decorative panel.
If you can’t solve the problem yourself, contact a plastic window repair master. A PVC block is a rather complex system and sometimes you can’t do without the help of a specialist.

Wash Windows: Life Hacks From Housewives
Have you noticed that in an apartment or a country house, even in bright light, it became somehow dim? Don’t worry – your windows haven’t deteriorated and don’t need costly replacements. You just need to wash them. How to do this as quickly and painlessly as possible – we tell!
1. Never wash windows when the sun is shining brightly outside. Firstly, because of it, the detergent dries faster. Secondly, the purity of the glass will be very difficult to assess. Thirdly, it can be simply dangerous. By the way, these rules also apply to the wind.
2. Choose your window cleaner wisely. You can buy an expensive jar and rub the surface with it. But divorces are still no, no, but they will appear. The ideal detergent can be obtained from the “grandmother’s chest” – this is vinegar with water. There are no streaks, and the glass shines like new. The only negative is the aroma. But it will fade quickly.
3. In fact, divorce can be avoided in another way. To do this, you just need to make movements in different directions. And after washing the windows, it is best to wipe them with a dry cloth. Just choose microfiber or cotton. Another “grandfather” option is a crumpled newspaper. It perfectly absorbs moisture and removes stains, and also rubs the glass to a shine. Didn’t find a newspaper? Take paper towels – the effect will be the same.
4. It is not enough to clean the glass, you must not forget about the frames, as well as the joints. For joints, you can use a regular hair dryer in combination with an old toothbrush. First blow off all the dust, and then walk with a brush. So you clean out as much as possible all the dust and dirt that has accumulated over several weeks. For the frame, it is recommended to use foam rubber brushes.
5. What can replace a regular rag? Many are uncomfortable using the canvas, so they found an alternative to it – a rubber scraper. The only drawback of this tool is that it is not suitable for heavily soiled surfaces. In this case, you still have to resort to a rag to wash off all the dust, and only then go to the scraper.
It’s not just windows that require regular cleaning – floors do too. Fortunately, a robot vacuum can help you keep your floors clean and tidy with minimal effort. With their powerful suction and efficient cleaning capabilities, robot vacuums can easily handle dirt, dust, and debris on a variety of surfaces, including hardwood, tile, and carpet. Simply set your robot vacuum to work and enjoy a clean spotless floor without having to lift a finger.

Interior Design of a Small Living Room
There are tricks to visually expand the space or make it deeper.
- So, for example, a light palette will fill the living room with light and make its borders blurry.
- Heavy curtains and draperies reduce free space, so it is better to use lightweight structures or functional blinds in small rooms.
- It is more appropriate to replace bulky, heavy cabinets with open shelving. You should not use many decorative elements in the interior of the living room. They should be abandoned for the sake of free space and a feeling of more spaciousness.
Tips and Conclusions
The living room is a space in which experiments with light are appropriate. Here you can use bright color accents and non-standard combinations.
Modern fashion trends are panoramic windows, surfaces that reflect light, large mirrors, wallpaper with a 3D effect.
Do not fill the living room with unnecessary items. It is better to choose furniture that combines several useful functions, such as tables with folding tops or convertible sofas. The laconic design of objects will help visually expand the space without losing functionality.
Accessories should not be too big, but they must be expressive. Skillfully placed photos on the walls, decorative pillows on the sofa, and an original wall panel will help make the design unique and the atmosphere cozy and warm.

Living Room Interior Ideas
Professional designers argue that interior ideas must follow global trends while being distinguished by conciseness, simplicity, and originality in the execution of details.
All of them are used to create a favorable and comfortable environment because people prefer to spend most of their free time in the living room.
Decor and color
There is no universal advice on what color scheme will be optimal in the interior, everyone is guided by their own preferences. To create a harmonious living room interior design, professionals recommend using the 60-30-10 rule. If the main color in the room should be about 60%, then the additional color should be 30%, and 10% is a bright accent. Naturally, all three shades should be well combined.
The decor should organically fit into the space and be something more useful than just decoration. Paintings or photographs are traditionally considered such organic decor. Depending on the image, they easily fit into any design solution.
Floor vases and figurines look interesting in spacious living rooms, but in small rooms, they will look too cumbersome, and they will also take up free space, which is already not enough.
Lighting
Proper placement of light sources reveals the stylistic ideas of the designer. The light in the interior of the living room not only affects the mood and emotions, but also gives the surrounding space different shades. The chandelier in the center of the ceiling continues to be a classic option. Correlating its dimensions with the dimensions of the room will create the desired effect. In addition to the chandelier, you can provide a wall lamp or lighting near the TV, it will be useful in the evening. In modern interiors, large chandeliers are increasingly complemented by spotlights or LED lighting around the perimeter of the ceiling. Lighting becomes more uniform and easily creates the right mood. Illumination built into individual pieces of furniture creates light accents that complement the interior.
The role of furniture in the interior
You should not clutter up the space with a lot of furniture, it is much easier to create coziness in a large and spacious room or in one that seems visually spacious. The dimensions of the furniture are always commensurate with the area of the living room, and individual items in it create a common composition, harmonizing in style and color.
It makes sense to look at photos of living rooms with unusual design ideas in the catalogs of professional designers, and then, using them as a source of inspiration, create your own original concept.
Interior style
The choice of style is an important stage that determines the design of the whole house. To choose the perfect option, you need to take into account the area, the shape of the living room, the height of the ceiling and the layout.
1. Classic style
Classics in the form that existed 100-200 years ago are practically never found today: it is difficult to implement such a design, and besides, it is impractical for the dynamics of modernity. The emphasis in the classic interior adapted to the 21st century is on the quality of each piece of furniture, the nobility of decor and accessories, and the feeling of freedom. The classic is suitable for large square or rectangular living rooms with high ceilings. Or for apartments with an open modern layout, in which one room flows freely into another. A sofa and two or three armchairs are located in the center of the living room, around a low coffee (tea) table. The attribute of the classics is a fireplace, possibly decorative.
2. Minimalist style
The design of the living room in the style of minimalism is practical, with a minimum of decorativeness. The color scheme includes only neutral natural colors. Simple lines and shapes are complemented by glass planes and metal frames. But at the same time, the interior itself does not become strict or inhospitable, they only shade the natural texture of the materials.
3. Scandinavian style
A variation of minimalism with a “northern touch”, similar to a stylized Swedish house. It is always comfortable here, especially on long cold winter evenings. The main color choice is white. It does not look cold and medically sterile, as it is diluted with natural wood products, fluffy carpets, and a cozy fireplace fire.
Color in the interior
White color is considered universal in color, but not always practical. Often it serves only as a backdrop for brighter details and the basis for the Scandinavian style, it is widely used in the Provence style.
Semitones are well suited for the living room – shades of one selected color. A room decorated with several shades at once looks dynamic and light. An interesting and original design can be obtained with contrasting colors. For example, highlight a bright shade against a background of calmer, muted, neutral tones.
Pastel hues are used to create a calm atmosphere and encourage color variation without adding overly bright tones that can be annoying.
Living room decoration
Each style in interior design has its own design requirements, but there are rules and techniques that can always be used in any style, getting attractive solutions.
Floor coverings. They can be anything to the taste of the owners, but at the same time they must be resistant to impact and easily withstand standard types of cleaning and washing. In an open-plan apartment, when the living room forms a single space with the kitchen, it is advisable to select flooring options that are simultaneously suitable for both functional areas. Carpets and rugs, almost always used in the recreation area, easily compensate for occasional design flaws.
Wall decoration. It has special requirements. The most spectacular filling of space is obtained against the background of plain surfaces. Decorative plaster is able to imitate the complex textures of natural materials, and wall panels give individuality to the design.
The subject content is not set strictly, but is determined by the needs of the residents and the chosen style, but in the general case, the design includes a sofa, two or more chairs, a table, a wall or a rack. These items form a single semantic center, and other items only complement it. Does the apartment have an open floor plan? The list of furniture will include a dining table and chairs, but then functional zoning becomes necessary.
In a classic interior, glass transparent facades, milled doors, sofas of complex shapes on graceful legs are preferable.
The facades, designed in the style of minimalism, are smooth and even. An interesting idea for the interior of the living room is modular furniture, each section of which is autonomous.
