There is nothing better than cleaned windows, but that particular cleaning task is rarely welcome. Cleaning windows can be a difficult task.
With the right equipment and the right technique, you can avoid striped windows and limescale stains in the window sill. We guide you to how!
For best cleaning results when cleaning windows:
Use good window soap. If you have a Vinduespudser from Jacobsens Rengøring, you can use our glass cleaner, which is optimized to work with the window washer. If you do not have a Jacobsens Rengøring window washer, you can make a regular soap mixture with dishwashing detergent. The perfect soap mixture is obtained by adding 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent to 4-5 liters of cold water.
Use a washer or a soft sponge to soap the pane well into the soap mixture, and use a little knuckle grease to loosen dirt and other stains.
Then use your Jacobsens Rengøring window washer or other good scraper to clean the window. Start in the left corner, scrape horizontally and turn the wrist in the corners in a reverse S-motion. Feel free to work at a steady pace. Also remember to clean the window sill and frame.
Finish by wiping the frame, corners and frame with a dry cloth.
When to wash windows?
Pay attention to the weather when cleaning windows. If it is hot outside, the water evaporates faster from the window. In such cases, work faster to avoid limescale stains and streaks. The most optimal weather to polish windows in is cloudy but dry.
How to avoid streaks on the windows
You know it for sure. Everything is joy and gloom, right up until the sun begins to shine and stains and streaks appear.
The technique is crucial when it comes to efficient window washing. Clean in uniform motions to remove all water and soap. Avoid lifting the scraper from the window once you have started, and start at the top of the window and work downwards.
Mastering the scraping pattern is not always straightforward. However, practice makes perfect and a good rule of thumb is to remember to let the lanes overlap.
